The club was well represented on July 4th at the Lenexa Community Days Parade
in Lenexa, KS. The perfect weather brought out a huge crowd for this year’s
parade. It was a perfect setting for the six green tractors to make their way
through the streets of Old Town Lenexa. They lined us up at the back of the
pack, but the crowd’s reaction showed we were still the fan favorite. We even
had international participation as Paul Antes had family in town from Toronto,
Canada. In attendance was Richard Miller (JD B), Stan Tracz (JD M), Don Hrabik
(JD430), Jay Pruett (JD 530), Paul Antes brought his 520 and 530 with Kelly
Antes on the 530 (with Paul riding the fender) and Mike Story on the 520. A
great time was had by all.
There were some interesting stories from the day. Jay made a six mile tractor
cruise in the morning and again that evening instead of loading a trailer. If
anyone sees a green frisbee on 87th St., please pick it up, it’s his pulley
cover. Richard’s hand start B almost had to be switched to chain start. Stan’s M
decided to take a break right after the police moved the barricade for us. Paul
shook Kris Kobach’s hand so long I thought the KBI was going to show up. And we
all got to see the Governor!
