Plow Day Nov 2, 2019
Plow Day was held on Sat., Nov. 2, 2019 west of Bonner Springs starting around
9:00 a.m. and ending around 4:30 p.m. The weather was cool under a blue sky.
Three John Deere tractors made the journey (Don Hrabik 520 w/2 bottom plow) (Bob
Antes 630 w/3 bottom plow) and (Lloyd Mesmer 620 w/ 3 bottom plow) along with a
(Lloyd Mesmer Gray Ford tractor w/3 bottom plow) for someone to drive. The river
bottom ground was great to plow with a few problems from bean and gardening
stubble. As a result, the 520 JD got stuck a few times and the driver of the
Ford tractor lost a shoe trying to operate the tractor -- maybe next year he can
find it. The group attended the Ag. Hall Volunteer Luncheon at 1:00 p.m. because
Lloyd Mesmer was recognized for outstanding workmanship at the Ag. Hall. Lloyd
did a great job of organizing Plow Day again this year but was concerned about
the lack of attendance. Hopefully next year we will have a rainbow of colored
tractors with the end of the rainbow setting west of Bonner Springs.
