American Royal Parade -- October 3, 2015

The InauguROYAL American Royal Parade, 90th, took place on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015 at the Truman Sports complex in Kansas City, MO. This was the clubs 25th year to participate in this parade and the first year for the new location. The parade was combined with the World Series of BBQ Contest. The expansive parking area at the stadiums helped a parking problem from the past. Limited club members were in attendance because the club was also committed to the Powell Gardens Tractor Show which featured John Deere on the same date. Club members in the parade included: Bill Eagleburger (JD 320), Jay Pruett (JD 530), Justin Read (JD H), Lloyd Messmer (JD 630) and Don Hrabik (JD 430 W with float). The weather was beautiful. We were positioned behind the Fox4 girls Karli Ritter and Mary Pulley. Spectator attendance was greater than expected because of the new location. The parade route started on the road between the two stadiums (Arrowhead and The K), then wound back around north of The K to the unloading area. The BBQ was next to the Arrowhead Stadium so one could smell that BBQ aroma as you passed by. Hopefully next year we will see a sea of green in the parade so all can smell the BBQ and tractor aromas together.
